Hallmark Movies 2020: Quarantine Edition

Another Wednesday, another Hallmark chat here.  🙂

Man, it’s been hard to catch up on my Hallmark movies!  I didn’t get to see all the Spring Fling offerings, and since I have to wait until they become available on Sling TV again, I’ve had to resort to re-watching a few movies from the past.  I’ve even come across a couple I haven’t seen yet….which has been a very pleasant surprise, indeed.

What I’m here to talk about though, is the FUTURE of Hallmark Movies….

Have you seen the meme traveling around Facebook?

Many people shared or tagged me in it….my husband even shared it to my wall.  So, obviously, word is getting around that I’m “into” Hallmark, I guess?  OH BOY!  I snickered when I read this…but then, I seriously considered it.  What if they can’t film Hallmark Christmas movies this year?!?!?  What will I EVER DO?!?!

As with many of these “What Ifs” we’ve been faced with this year….I’m going to not think about it.  It’s out of my control….I must soldier on.

But Maybe….just Maybe….some movies would look a bit like this…..

Flip that Marriage

Not only are they both working from home together, but Rachel and Hank decided to tackle a few home DIY projects during the pandemic.  Will their marriage fall apart like their homemade furniture?  Will they learn to love again while they put the pieces back together?

appetite for love (1)

Becky was beside herself when restaurants were ordered to close.  She had just opened her dream bakery, and now a pandemic shut those dreams down.  While trying to stay afloat, her curbside to-go business had one mysterious repeat customer.  She may not have been able to see his face…but those eyes were unforgettable!  What was this handsome stranger doing with thousands of dollars of baked goods a day?  Was he sweet on more than just her cupcakes?

Delivering Love

Mary never did like Christmas.  It always reminded her of what she lost.  The “Safer at Home” order was exactly what she needed to lock out Christmas this year.  Gabriel, everyone’s favorite delivery man, noticed there was only house on his route that wasn’t decorated with Christmas lights.  After asking around, Gabriel made it his Christmas Messenger duty to deliver some Christmas cheer to this house….but would that be all he delivered?  After 12 days of Surprise Christmas Deliveries…Gabriel and Mary just might find themselves more than just presents under the tree this year…

No Sustitution for love

Maggie was so tired of Grocery Store Pick-Up always leaving things off her order.  It seemed she was missing items or needed substitutions with every single trip.  One day she got so frustrated, she demanded to speak to a manager….which only made it worse!  Mr. Manager didn’t take her seriously at all!  He thought he was so charming and cute…(I mean, maybe he was…but that’s not the point)  Her next Grocery Pick-up…and every one after, Mr. Manager personally delivered to her car….and when she got home: No Missing items, no substitutions, and a single rose.  Her weekly Grocery Pick-Up became less maddening…..turns out, Mr. Manager has a name…and an ulterior motive for “No Substitutions”

Oh my goodness, I need to stop.  This was too much fun!  Don’t judge my photoshop skills…I was going for perfection, and I ain’t got time for more.

I have NO affiliations to Hallmark (Officially), unless, of course, they want to use these Plot Lines for a new series for 2020.  If that’s the case, call me!

Tell me!  Do YOU have any Pandemic Plot Lines?  I’d love to hear them!

Temperature Quilt: April 2020

I hope you’re not surprised to know I fell behind again this month.

So, I spent the last couple days catching up to bring you this post….I was all ready to finish up my last couple hexies of April and attach them to the quilt……..

and then, guess what happened?  One of my youth, full of pent up energy, tried to jump a metal stake in our yard and fell on it. (puncturing his forearm)  After a quick call to make sure we had our vaccines up-to-date….and a consult with our wonderful EMT neighbor, we made the trip to Urgent Care.  It wasn’t horrible, and, we avoided stitches due to the fact that the hole was too big….so the boy was happy.  Now, we heal at home.

School from home, sewing, blogging, thoughts of pandemic….all things on stand-still when your child is in need to medical care… about perspective….

Never a dull moment!

SO, what was this post about?  Oh yeah, the temperature quilt!

For those of you that made it through the trauma update, thank you.

Remember my Temperature Legend?

I am making my quilt to record the temperatures for Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the year 2020.  I sew 2 hexies per day: One for the high temp and one for the low temp.

APRIL 2020 Brought a NEW HIGH TEMP color to our array!

That means we reached up into the 60’s! And toward the end of the month…it looks quite warm! Something to look forward too, no?

And all together now!

Oshkosh, Wisconsin Temperature Quilt from January 2020-April 2020:

It’s just so GOSH DARN pretty!   I’m still not quite caught up with the white border hexies….maybe one day when I have that extra time 😉

At last, my friends, I give you….the “watch me grow” progression!

I look forward to warmer highs and lows this month!  If we’re “Safe at Home”, we might as well be able to spend time enjoying the weather!

MAY it BE Beautiful!

I was super excited to see that the Auction House and Sales group I had been participating in a few months back is ALSO jumping back into running again!

In case this is the first you’ve heard of this, you can find RED ROSE AUCTION HOUSE HERE and the FLASH SALE ART BOX MARKET GROUP HERE

I’m not exactly sure what I will be selling and auctioning yet…but I definitely want to try.

Any chance you are looking to buy some handmade goodies?

And, IF SO, would you be willing to let me know what you’d be interested in shopping for?  This is always the hard part of my business. I only have so much time/supplies to design and create the items I sell…..

Now, it is very apparent I have less time…and even MORE limited supplies.

So….Help a girl out!

Let me know what you’d be interested in seeing!

Here are a few ideas:

  • Cloth Masks

Hallmark Movie Review: You’re Bacon Me Crazy

I am getting BACK into my blog groove.

I think one of the biggest reasons I hit a wall this week was it finally got to me that I have put most of the “me” things on hold.  While I realize that this is totally and completely necessary in order to try and accomplish all the “distance learning” for 4 dependent children….

it also has finally lead me to a bit of burnout this week.

Well, let’s get back at it!

SO it’s Wednesday. And on Wednesday’s we HALLMARK here!

I almost fell off my chair when this movie was announced.  Anything with BACON in the title has GOT to be good, right?

Also, these two leads are usually very good…..the test?  Are they good together?

Well, my initial quick review:  BACON + HALLMARK = 100% WIN!

I’m going to jump into my 5 point review in a second, but I wasn’t exactly sure where this point would fit…so I’m putting it here.  I could hardly contain myself that I got a personal shout out in this film.  I mean, they NAMED THE MAIN SANDWICH AFTER ME!

(sure, it’s my maiden name initials…but still.  It’s ME!)

I feel so seen.

Untitled (2)

So here’s how I’m going to break it down:
5 categories, 5 hearts possible in each

CHEMISTRY ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
ON POINT!  The WHOLE MOVIE.  I just love it when the actors start off the movie NOT hating on each other or annoying each other.  It really makes the process of them getting together a lot more believable for me.  They were both so cute about it.
STORYLINE ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️
LOVED THIS!  It was such a cool concept…Food Trucks!  Maybe part of my love for it was the fact that we can DO NONE OF THESE things right now:  Farmer’s Markets, Food Trucks, Competitions, Being in Public….it really made me realize just how much I miss all of it, but I am excited to do it again soon! (God-willing)
I liked Gabe & his brother’s relationship a lot, but my favorite was Cleo’s niece, Tessa!  How fun was she?!?!  Helping her technology-impaired auntie with her business 🙂 Makes me sad that I’m in the “old” crowd now…but I can still manage a few social media accounts, so I guess I’m not a dinosaur yet 😉
FEELS ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
UGH! The hard part about having the feels begin at the start of the movie…when the conflict parts come, they really hurt.  They made me feel them all., What a roller coaster!
I Just Really LOVED these two leads together!  Gabe & Cleo ALL DAY! Could you tell?  The surprise for me was how they were almost like real adults when conflicts came up.  When I thought they would Hallmark-zig….they would ZAG!  All the little misunderstandings were resolved quickly.  And the big conflict was believable!

21/25 ❤️. Would  HIGHLY recommend…and would probably watch again….as long as I had a BIG BLP to eat while I watched!

Fill the Truck: Fabric Daffodils

Today I am struggling.  I’m struggling with patience.  I’m struggling with negativity.

I’m basically driving the whole Struggle Bus.

In short: I’ve got a bad attitude.

So, I thought I’d make something pretty.   (that didn’t involve masks)

Do you remember my Hallmark Inspired Truck that I keep out all year long?  Well, it needed something SPRINGY!

I meant to have at least two other Fill the Truck posts in between my Shamrocks and this one, but….well, quarantine life.

Alright, enough ho-hum…let’s get to some pretties, shall we?

I found a really cute, easy tutorial for fabric daffodils HERE from Crafty Staci  She gives you three ways to make them.  I followed one tutorial for the first one I made, and then just sort of wings the other two.  Remember, my attitude today.  I ran out of patience with that too, apparently.

Anywhoodle, I used some wooden skewers and wrapped them up with fabric for the stems….

HOT glue those bad boys on the back

Then, I just happened to have this cute little Terracotta pot Georgia painted for me back in 2018.  (says so on the bottom)

And for the dirt?  A rolled up brown sock that is one of a million without a match that I have piled in our guest room.

See, Who needs to run to the craft store to create something new?

Well, I might not NEED to…..but I REALLY REALLY REALLY cannot wait to anyway.

Also, I need to catch up on my Spring Fling Hallmark movies! (Perhaps that will lift my spirits?)

Have you been watching???
