GAC Family Movie Review: A Merry Christmas Wish

A perfect example of how two amazing actors can be under-utilized.

So here’s how I break it down:
5 categories, 5 hearts possible in each

CHEMISTRY (between the leads) ❤️❤️❤️❤️ People. You have Jill Wagner & Cameron Mathison. This movie should have been perfection. And it was….in the final 20 minutes. From the Barn scene onward I was all in. Romantic angst and butteflies galore…..but I had to wait the entire movie for it. Why????

STORYLINE (overall plot of the movie) ❤️❤️❤️ Meh. Completely typical “Hallmark” plot. Yes, I realize it’s on the GAC network…but you know what I mean. My big gripe with it though was, I kind of wasn’t rooting for Janie. She was in a relationship and job that she actually seemed to love….and going back home and inheriting a farm/seeing old friends shouldn’t completely change your entire life/view//heart in 2 days. (well, I guess it might if it’s our boy, Cameron) 😉 I just didn’t buy it.

SUPPORTING CAST ❤️❤️ Deputy Dylan’s sister was pretty great in the end. Charles did do a great job of making us not like him, which I guess was the point…..but, overall, the only thing I got excited about was trying Rosemary Honey. How delicious does that sound?!?

FEELS ❤️❤️ ❤️ The BARN DANCE! It gave me all the feels…..it REALLY could have used a sweet kiss. (ugh, this is why you shouldn’t write serious boyfriends into the plot) I also loved the voice over letter from Uncle Randall AND, as I said….the last 20 minutes was what I waited for the entire movie.

GAC SPIN (what made this different from typical Hallmark movies) ❤️❤️ Janie with the surprise gift! I loved that….a little presumptuous, but I’ll take it! After an entire movie of meh….that final scene really knocked my romantic socks off. More of that please.

14/25 I’d rewatch the ending of this one, but probably wouldn’t sit through the rest. But I love you LONG time Jill & Cameron.

GAC Family Movie Review: Destined at Christmas

The first of GAC Family’s “Great American Christmas” 2022….

I really had mixed feelings this entire movie.

So here’s how I break it down:
5 categories, 5 hearts possible in each

CHEMISTRY (between the leads) ❤️❤️❤️ Kim & Theo….oh boy, this really jumped around from scene to scene. I think they were fairly natural together….but to be honest, kind of boring…..the pay off of their second meeting was worth it….but then the time hop was back to being blah. Very strange to go from blah to OOH to blah.

STORYLINE (overall plot of the movie) ❤️❤️❤️ The preview made me dread watching this. A couple meets Black Friday shopping, hit it off and loose each other….then spend the rest of the time “missing” each other at different locations? Well, it was a little better than expected….but not by much. I made it through mid-December when it started to wear thin.

SUPPORTING CAST ❤️❤️ ❤️ Theo’s daughter, Ashley, was pretty sweet. Kim’s ex, Zach, was unbearable. Read the room, man. She is over you. But, then, her entire family is trying to convince her to “go back to Zack” Um, worst family ever. Yuck.

FEELS ❤️❤️ ❤️ I loved the reuniting scene. It gave me butterflies….but, most of the rest of the movie just did not hold my attention.

GAC SPIN (what made this different from typical Hallmark movies) ❤️ I didn’t really feel surprised by anything. Seemed a like a standard Romantic Christmas Movie.

13/25 I’m hopeful & certain that there will be better flicks from GAC’s lineup. Would not watch this one again.
