St Patrick’s Day in the Shop

Happy SPRING Forward Day!
I hope you are all surviving on one less hour of sleep!  Not going to apologize for it, though, because I got to shave off ONE HOUR of work…so just remember, it’s allll about perspective 😉

Anywhoodle, it’s Sunday in the Shop here, and that means, I’m taking the time to highlight some of the items I have up for sale.  St. Patrick’s Day is the Holiday ‘O the Month of March….and here is what I have in stock yet:

Set of 3 Reusable Snack Bags in St. Patty’s Day prints!

They are fully lined with PUL fabric (which is what you would find lining washable/reusable cloth diapers).  The closure is Velcro, and to clean, I recommend either hand wash and dry OR flip them inside out and throw them in the wash machine!

Next up, I have this adorable Size 2T, Upcycled Tshirt Dress

Who can resist that Rainbow and CandyLand Fabric!?!?!

The ever SO popular TRIPLE RUFFLE SKIRT

I have this one ready to ship in a Size 4T, but when I say 4T, it will really fit much longer, since this pattern runs large.  Think size 4-6 girls 🙂

Which little girl is going to get to wearthis Size 4/5 Upcycled Tshirt Dressthis St. Patty’s Day? ……Uuuuummmmm, THE LUCKIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD!

And, who’s got a Little Irish Sweetie that wears a Size 7/8?  Because I’m pretty sure she NEEDS this Upcycled Knit dress!

Studio Spotlight: First steps of Organization

IMMA try my best to make this a weekly check-in to let you behind the scenes into my sewing studio…  it’s purpose is two-fold, really.

  1. I LOVE to see the behind the scenes of people’s creative spaces!  SO, I’m “giving back” by letting you into mine.  We can learn so much from each other as far as organization (of which I NEED a ton of help) and inspiration!
  2. This will keep my studio space moving forward.  I often only take time to create, and then my studio turns into a terrible mess.  I want to hold myself accountable by sharing my process/progress with you!

First things first….I HAVE to tackle all the clutter….but, as I said it. is. very. messy.  So, in order to stop myself from getting overwhelmed and giving up, I am giving myself time to go through and do it right.

This shelf was my first eye sore that I posted on IG for all the world to see.  You can’t even imagine the disaster that lies behind me in this shot.  (I’ll get to that….eventually)

God Bless the Dollar Tree and their plastic bins!

I also tackled my scrap cotton, fleece, and flannel fabric that was EVERYWHERE!  Here are the bins that had to go……

img_4160

I was able to get rid of about 60% of this by donating to local schools, our church, and friends…next stop, individual teachers that need arts & craft supplies!

And while I love all this new order in my life…..I have to tell you, Organization & Purging is NOT my strength.  So, I was pretty proud of myself.  I thought I desired a reward (or three 😉 )

My two chairs got face lifts thanks to Amazon!  (Bonus: now that I have an example of what I need to cover them….when I get sick of these covers, I can sew some of my own!)

Office Chair Cover you can find here

And, hold on to your 70’s loving heart…cuz I covered this bad boy up too with a s;ipcover like this one

Now, probably the simplest thing….but something that has seriously changed my sewing LIFE: this ruler tape  I put it right in front of me on my sewing table.  MIND BLOWN!  Do you know how many times I have to get up to measure something????  Me either.  I lose track, and this little tape has brought me more joy in the last 3 days that I can even describe.

And, that’s it for this week!  I’d love to hear your organizational tips! I could use all the encouragement I can get!

Flashback Friday: Lucky Craft from the Vault

One of the things I am most excited about is sharing with you some of my old blog posts from “For What It’s Worth…or Not” from way back when…
So, on Fridays I’m going to treat you to some Flashbacks!
It’s crazy to think that this was originally publish on March 8, 2011.
NINE YEARS AGO?!?!?!  woah. that can’t be, I remember this so vividly….
At any rate, here you go….no editing, just raw content here.  I totally STILL have this frame, and it’s part of my yearly March decor. 🙂
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Find an early-90’s Home Interior Special picture frame
(or any old frame you are not particularly fond of)
and paint it Green
Pick up some wooden letters at your local craft store
These came in a pack of 2….
so a lucky someone is going to get a surprise from me soon
Paint them Green
Make the U into a Horseshoe by drawing a little design
(Hint: if you go with a lighter green, you can use a permanent marker to draw on it, otherwise, you’ll have to use a paint pen or paintbrush)
Arrange your letters in any way you’d like on a piece of cardstock
I used the “LOVE” sign as inspiration
Place in your frame, and show off your last-minute creativity
If you don’t make this craft you will have 7 years of bad luck and every time you wear the color green a bird will poop on your head….even in the middle of winter.
Just Kidding!
(it will only be 6 years)

Fill The Truck: Felt Shamrocks

Last year as I was perusing down the Christmas clearance aisles….I came upon this beautiful vintage red truck that screamed out to my Hallmark heart!  I believe it was filled with a “sack of hot cocoa” when I bought it.

Now, normally, I take after-season-clearance deals and pack them away with my like-seasonal decor so that when the holiday rolls around again I get surprised by new things!  It’s like buying yourself a gift that you can still be surprised by!  (can you tell I don’t receive many gifts from other people very often?)

Well, since my Hallmark LOVE cannot not be contained to the Christmas season….this truck is part of my home decor all year round.

So, I need it to “haul” things for different seasons/holidays.

For MARCH….I needed: Shamrocks, of course!

I tried a few different projects, but couldn’t find one I liked more than these quick felt Shamrocks.

I was going to do a tutorial, but Lauren over at Molly and Mama did such a fantastic job, you can head over there if you need the step by step.

I did have take a few of my “ugly” first drafts and add buttons to the center to clean them up a bit…

And now, my Hallmark Truck is ALL READY for March!

(P.S. Hallmark’s Spring Fever movies start premiering on the 29th this year if you’re wondering)

What did you say?  You don’t have a truck like this to fill?   ….and you are looking for one to add to your decor

Well, you’re in LUCK!  I took the liberty of “shopping” for ya 😉  You know…just in case…even found you a few color options 😉 You’re welcome! SHOP HERE

Bad Date Chronicles: Hallmark Movie Review

My Hallmark Christmas Movie Showdown Peeps will totally get it, but for those of you who didn’t join my Hallmark Christmas Movie Bracket this past year….here’s the thing:

I LOVE HALLMARK MOVIES.  I don’t care if you think they are cheesy or predicable.  I will watch them all.  Even if they suck (which some do).  I love LOVE.  I love happy endings.  So, come along for the feels of Hallmark with me.  I’ve got a ranking system all planned out….Enjoy!

Oh boy.

If this is your first Hallmark Movie review/recap with me, I’m going to apologize right now.

It’s not good.

In fact, I’m going to take a bold stance here and tell you to go back to Christmas, Winterfest, OR Love Ever After movies from this past season…like, ANY OF THEM and start watching there. This was one of the WORST things I’ve watched in a very long time.

As I started watching this I had an odd feeling……I felt like I’ve seen this movie before. The plot sounded so familiar….This couldn’t possibly be a brand new movie, right? So, I googled it….and SURE ENOUGH. I HAD seen it before! UGH!

Didn’t like it then either. :/ Sorry Hallmark Lovers….this one just didn’t live up to the content they’ve been putting out lately.

The thing is, if you can get past Connor’s Milk Mustache…..I mean, I’m sorry, I’m trying not to be petty….but dude’s got a dirty upper lip…if you are possibly able to turn your attention away from that for even a minute…you’ll be as disappointed as I was to realize that was one of the most intriguing parts of this whole movie.

Friends, if you have a boss that meddles in your personal relationships as much as these two…quit immediately. It’s wrong in so many levels. I don’t even care that they tried to redeem these characters later on, it didn’t work. I still don’t like them at all.

I really wanted to like this movie…the concept just didn’t work…it gave me so few Happy vibes I struggled to power through. It was the typical “Hallmark” movie that give Hallmark movies a bad rap.

So here’s how I’m going to break it down:
5 categories, 5 hearts possible in each
CHEMISTRY ❤️
barely there, even the big moment at the end felt weird
STORYLINE ❤️
I wish I could give it a half of one heart. It was cheesy.
SUPPORTING CAST ❤️
Bosses could not be redeemed. Friends…I just didn’t buy your side romance.
FEELS ❤️
uncomfortable, and a bit angry to be honest
HALLMARK SURPRISE❤️❤️
this is the highest ranking out of all and only because I was surprised that the Connor and Leigh actually were adult enough to confront each other face to face many times there was a misunderstanding.

6/25 ❤️. Would not recommend 😒
