My Hallmark Obsession

Hallmark Movie Review: Making Spirits Bright

A tale as old as time….children of two feuding families…caught in the tangled mess of Christmas lights!

Started this one thinking it was going to be too ridiculous to hold my attention, but I actually really enjoyed it in the end!

So here’s how I break it down:
5 categories, 5 hearts possible in each

CHEMISTRY (between the leads) ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Tony & Grace….so smitten with each other from day one. While the plot of this story had me hesitant…as soon as these two ran into each other at the bar…I couldn’t look away. The playful banter was on point. And honestly, Carlo Marks smiling at anyone like he does makes it hard not to swoon….but can someone call this man a barber?!? That hair was not right….

STORYLINE (overall plot of the movie) ❤️❤️❤️ the start crossed lovers plot meets a Christmas decor and lights business? Um, okaaaaay…not really high stakes, but they got me good in the end.

SUPPORTING CAST ❤️❤️❤️ the dad’s in this movie were so iconically DADS, they made me smile. I actually loved how they ended up working out their differences and becoming friends again. And honestly, it’s refreshing to have the main conflict of the movie NOT be between the the romantic pairing, ya know? ….oh my goodness: WADE. What a Chach!

FEELS ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I LOVE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!!!! The ending reveal of the Christmas Lights display actually really impressed me! Made me want to drive around a look at the lights in our city. Also LOVED the caroling…even if it was really bad….it made it cute!

HALLMARK SURPRISE (what made this different from typical Hallmark movies) ❤️❤️ there wasn’t too much surprising here except for the main conflict not really affecting our romantic leads. Kind of a nice change of pace

NEW (ungraded) CATEGORY no hearts given, but I feel like some of the “traditions” or decor in these movies NEED a little spotlight. I mean…

  1. I actually just want to hire someone to do my outdoor Christmas decor….how does this small town have 3 businesses doing this when I’ve never heard of a single one where I live???

16/25 surprised I didn’t score this higher as I really liked it! And I would definitely watch it again!
