My Hallmark Obsession

Gearing Up for Spring Fling

It’s Wednesday….and Wednesday’s We Talk Hallmark!

Ahh….do you know what’s been part of the stress of the past week for me? Global Pandemic? Yes. Social distance? Yes. Preparing to Homeschool our 4 children? Yes……

But…..ALSO: I haven’t even able to watch a SINGLE HALLMARK MOVIE! This probably hasn’t happened since October. (No, I’m not kidding)

I love Hallmark movies. They are happy. They are an escape. I believe I will need to take the time needed to just “check out” for and hour or more very soon. (Good thing most of the kids like them too…since we’ll be needing an escape or 32 in the coming weeks)

So, I don’t know what the future of Hallmark movies are, but I DO know they have announced their Spring Fling 2020 lineup, so I’m assuming they will air as scheduled.

Starts off on March 28th with:

Next Up on April 4th:

Then, April 11th

And Last Up on April 18th

Am I crazy to still be excited about new Hallmark movies? Maybe. Do I care? Not in the least. Let me have this Corona!

LadyBeez Designs response to COVID-19

Yes, you’ve heard from every business that you’ve ever been to…

AND every business you’ve ever mentioned in day-to-day conversation….

But, this is the time we live in.  As far as businesses go, we must keep our customers informed as to what is happening.  Are we staying open?  Are we closing down?

Ugh!  It’s all so hard!

Short and sweet:  I’m a home-based business, and I’m still in business!  I’ve actually designed some amazing pieces already in the last 2 days with some amazing ladies!  All virtually…from designing to fabric ordering.

All of my online fabric suppliers are still in business, and I’ve gotten shipments in record time…which even surprised me!  So, please, don’t hesitate to connect with me or take this time to shop from home!

I will be homeschooling our 4 children when the time comes.  Well, at least, I’ll be trying my best.  If this becomes too much for me along side my business, you will be the first to know!

Until then, I’ll be posting new designs as I make them…and as always, taking custom orders.

Now that that’s out of the way…..here’s what I made today:

This month’s March Meet the Maker on Instagram inspired me to Sew a Little Something for myself this morning…..and I’ve been holding on to this T-shirt for months.

While the kid’s got a “History” Lesson in the Great 1990’s of Cartoon Television known as “The Adventures of the Gummy Bears”  ,  I upcycled that beast into this:

Fitting, no?

And by Y’all….I mean Me…..

and Us.

God Bless You All!  Stay Safe Out There!

Studio Spotlight: Organizing PDF Patterns…a start

This week started off with big plans and high hopes for tackling my patterns.

For those of you who may not sew….and therefore don’t understand why my patterns are a bunch of papers:  I prefer digital PDF patterns to the old school “brown tissue paper in a package” you purchase from the store.

  1. They are more sturdy– Not easily ripping/tearing.
  2. They can be re-printed as many times as you’d like
  3. Some pattern designers even have them made in layers–so only one size can be chosen to print at a time.

The downside to them: they are little more bulky than traditional patterns, so they don’t “fold up” as small.

So, I end up with lots and LOTS of situations like this.

I’ve scoured the internet for all the ways other sewists organize their patterns, and honestly, up until this point I haven’t found anything that make sense for me.  Sure, there are multiple neat and tidy ideas, but they all seem too “put away” for my liking.

So….for now…..I’ve decided my organizational plan is going to be Manilla Folders labeled with the name of the pattern on the outside.  And put into categories by Pattern Type

  • Women’s
  • Men/Boys
  • Girls Dresses
  • Girls Tops
  • Girls Bottoms

I don’t have them all sorted yet but, it’s a start.

Looks like I’ll have a house full of helpers for the next few weeks….so perhaps the sewing studio will get more love from the kids too!
