The Common Table Prayer: Free Printable

I didn’t forget to post this morning….I was just contemplating what I wanted to say.

I have often been found making jokes over the past week regarding the rapidly evolving Coronavirus situation.  I do that.  Call it a coping mechanism…or whatever you want.  It’s how I do life.

I’m not going to get into what I think about whether it’s overblown, not being taken seriously enough, or if my family has enough toilet paper to make it through the next few weeks.  (I do know I have plenty of scrap fabric….so we’ll be good, I think)

If you have questions or concerns, I DO suggest you look to the CDC (they are called the CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL for a reason)  If you want a more personal opinion: see how your friend or family member that is a Health Care Professional is living their life and taking care of their family.  We go about this the same way…all the time.  We go to work, deal with the diseases everyday, and wash our hands a lot.

What I WILL say is this is the first time my husband and I have discussed the spread of disease and germs so thoroughly with our children. (with the exception of when my mom was sick and couldn’t come visit)  We don’t get to protect them from the world around us…the world and it’s problems will find them.  So we make sure we are part of their safe place and sounding board.

As we sat around our dinner table last night….

we discussed what’s happening, and some of the possibilities of what is to come….

and We Prayed.

We prayed the Common Table Prayer and Return Thanks that we do every sit-down meal.  If you’ve prayed this prayer before, it’s likely you rush through and never give it another thought….but I urge you to slow down.

Ponder each line.

It’s so good.

It’s so NEEDED.

And that is why I knew I needed to share this project I made back in July of 2012 with you.  Please feel free to print and use in your own home.  The Super Large Framed version is what’s hanging in our kitchen right

CIRCA July 17, 2012 from my previous blog:

I have a great idea for some artwork for our Kitchen Dining Area…but I needed to first make the Subway Art Print.

While I was at it, I thought I’d share 🙂  It’s a 4×6 jpeg….but think how fun it would be printed out 2ft. x 3ft.!

Million Baby Chicks Hoodie

Have you heard me reference the “Million Baby Chicks” Hoodie before?

It’s a design that has evolved into one of my most requested custom orders…but that’s not why I love it so much….

I love it so much because it allows me to mix and match different fabrics and make something completely unique.

I love it SO much because it is a product of multiple different patterns that I have mashed together.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH because it was born out of a custom request from a friend…and now NAMED by another one of my friends!

How fun, right?

It all started by a friend asking if I could make her a hoodie like a certain one she saw online.  I don’t even remember if it was from Pinterest or Facebook.  Either way, I was able to create one fairly similar.

Soon after that, I began getting more and more requests.

The “Million Baby Chicks” name came after I began using Double Brushed Poly for my main fabric choice…. well, I’ll just let my friend’s words speak for themselves:

“Yup! I’m never taking it off!  It feels like I’m wrapped in 1 million baby chicks.  SO SOFT!  If LadyBeez Designs hasn’t brought your dream into a reality, what are you waiting for?  Love it!!! Creative Genius!”

There are just so many options and combos with this hoodie.

I don’t know what I love more:  Designing them out of the scraps I have on hand, mixing and matching from a limited selection  OR  Designing them right along side my customers–letting them choose between different combos I put together virtually for them to see what’s possible.

At any rate, they sure are fun to create!  I will be posting a few Ready to Ship MBC Hoodie’s I made yesterday in my VIP group later this morning.  But, as always, I am open to custom orders!  Let me know if You would like me to design one for you!

My Hallmark Obsession

Love Under the Rainbow: Hallmark Movie Review

On Wednesdays we Watch Hallmark.

Let’s be honest though….I watch Hallmark on more than just Wednesdays (I mean, just wait until the Countdown to Christmas begins again)  So, I guess it’s more accurate to say, “On Wednesdays we Talk Hallmark”

If you’re here for sewing and craft talk, you’ll have to power through today.  Who knows you might be a closeted Hallmark junkie too. If you’ve joined me from my Hallmark Movie Showdown group…..or that sounds like something you’d like to hear more about….Wednesdays are going to be YOUR JAM on this blog.

Right now, we are experiencing a drought of sorts on the Hallmark Movie Channels….no new premieres until March 28th when they launch Spring Fever.  I am struggling with the wait.  Thankfully, on Sling TV, I  have been able to catch up on movies I haven’t seen before.

This one fit in right in along with the time of year….so I squealed with joy when it finally was available.

Love Under the Rainbow

I had high hopes immediately when I saw that my girl, Jodie Sweetin, was the leading lady.  STEPHANIE!!!! (for all the Full House fans)

I have loved every Hallmark Movie that she has been in…..

Here’s what she brings: superior acting compared to most Hallmark leads.  Maybe it’s just me, but she just comes off more natural: Her delivery & Her chemistry with all other people on the show. That being said, this ended up being my least favorites of the Hallmark movies she’s starred in.

The subject matter of this movie was tough for me.  I know a lot of Hallmark films address the loss of a parent, but not all of them have it as the main story line.  Jack (the widower) played his part so well….complete with avoidance and anger.  This is the part that made this very different from many Hallmark movies.  It made it more realistic, but harder to wrap up in a pretty package like Hallmark usually likes to present.

The little girl, Sophie, was ADORABLE!  and the RAINBOWS …oh, my goodness. I am going to re-watch this one with my kids because my Rainbow LOVING girl will FLIP OUT over that scene in the meadow!!!!

So here’s how I’m going to break it down:
5 categories, 5 hearts possible in each

CHEMISTRY ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️
Lucky & Jackie were so into each other and had so many cute moments! I would have loved to give it 5, but it felt too rushed at the end with how strongly Jack pushed back during “the conflict”
STORYLINE ❤️ ❤️❤️
Hit me right where it hurts….but it was good. Just felt a little rushed
SUPPORTING CAST ❤️ ❤️❤️
Sophie was Amazing. Her love of Rainbows made me want to make all of her crafts! I was fairly certain I knew where they were going with it, and I was expecting it…just rather abrupt.
FEELS ❤️ ❤️❤️
Great chemistry. There were a few pretty intense moments. Funny inside jokes. THAT RAINBOW SCENE in the meadow left me in complete awe. But when it was suppose to be super sad, I didn’t cry. Maybe it was the fast gut check to Jack being angry.
HALLMARK SURPRISE❤️
I wouldn’t really say there was a big surprise….it followed the basic Hallmark Movie recipe
14/25 ❤️. Would recommend…but I am only watching again if my kiddos are around to show them the Rainbows!

Tutorial: Sew a Custom Dog Collar

After having a request from one of my very loyal customers to make a custom dog collar, I went back and forth as to how I was going to tackle it.

Do I search for a pattern?

What if I make this and then other people are interested in ordering one?  (that’s usually my motivation for purchasing patterns)  I’m a stickler for reproducible results!

What I ended up deciding on was purchasing a collar and deconstructing it to make a new one.

The bonus to this method is:   1. You have a pattern.  2. You have all the “hardware” you’ll need.

Then, I thought, maybe my sewing friends would like to do this too!

So, here is a quick Tutorial for you to make your own custom dog collar

  1. Look for a collar you love.  Maybe it’s the one your dog is already wearing?  Maybe it’s a brand new one.  (as long as the “hardware” is good, they have collars everywhere…even the dollar store)
  2. Open the collar up and take a picture.  You’ll want this for reference when you are sewing your new collar back together.
  3. Cut off all the hardware

4. Measure the length of the collar all stretched out straight.

5. Choose the fabric you love.  My customer happens to LOVE Star Trek, so that’s what I used.  If your print is larger, you’ll have to pay attention to placement of the print.

6. You’ll cut your fabric 4x the width of the collar you are copying, and Add 1 inch onto the length.  (the collar I copied also had a tag ring, so I cut an extra piece to attach that)

7. Cut Iron-On interfacing 2″x Length of collar and iron it on down the center.

8. Fold your collar to the center twice so that it’s 4 layers.  You’ll also tuck in the ends so that they are finished nicely.  Sew around this whole piece with 1/8″ seam.

9. Reconstruct your collar by referencing the picture of the one you took apart.10. Pop that puppy on your Pup, and enjoy!

Just think of all the fun collars you can make for your Furry Friend!
